Children are pure. They come into this world a clean slate. Untarnished and open for input and messages that we get to give them. What an honor it is to have this ability. Especially when you realize that every thing we do and create fills that child up just as if they were an empty vase for us to add one flower at a time. Eventually that child will become an entire bouquet. If we do it right.
When a child is about 3 or 4 their personality is so fun. They are honest and silly and they definitely know how to have a good time. This definitely makes for a great friendship. I mean really what more can you ask for?
I think my son was about 3 when I knew he was my new best friend. I could take him with me anywhere and I always had a good time. This was a lifelong friendship. I wanted him with me as much as he wanted to be with me. Laughing and playing, eating and napping.
Throughout my days filled with children there are many days that feel I am not at my top game. I have rough days just like anyone else. I will say though that a child can cheer you up on your worst day. The raw beauty of their simple mind can bring you back to what is the most important thing very quickly. Their innocence grounds us to keep us going without unnecessary stimulation. They use their imagination and run wild with fantasies unlike any adult every could. Again what a great friend to have.
I would definitely say that I love having grown up friends that I can relate to and do adult things with, but my favorite friends are children. They always remind me that there is good in the world that hasn’t been ruined and inspires me to help that flourish. To continue reminding others that we haven’t all gone bad. Today we look around and feel that the world may not even be good enough for children. It’s scary to think that this world could ruin a child very easily. Instead I would like to just try each day to build a friendship with a child and in the long run I know I’m helping them become a bouquet.
